A large group of photographic views of the Georgian Military Road, including a folding panorama, Tbilisi, ca. 1890s. 54 albumen prints each with captions in Cyrillic in the negative, each c. 215 x 275mm on card mounts 330 x 435mm, with manuscript captions in German in the mount; together with one panorama comprising 4 albumen prints joined and backed on linen, together 190 x 1020mm. (Prints with occasional light fading, the mounts with some light wear and light soiling near the edges, one print heavily soiled, the panorama with light wear and small areas of light discolouration.) Provenance: Walter Stechow (1852-1927, pioneering radiologist, army doctor, and physician to Kaiser Wilhelm II; by repute).
