A WILLIAM DE MORGAN (1839 -1917) CERAMIC VASE
THE HOUSE BEAUTIFUL. JUNE 2013. Having been a collector for most of my life, and a dealer for a large part of it, I have always prized and valued the quirky, unusual and beautiful item as much as the iconic and rare one. I have built my reputation on finding the rarest pieces within my field and am proud to include most major museums and institutions, as well as private collectors, as my clients. My own collection, however, draws from a wider source and includes things from different periods and cultures, though with aesthetic value always paramount. The auction I am holding with Christie's, 'The House Beautiful', acknowledges their expertise and talent in marketing the decorative and unusual, in a way that resonates with the modern world and can be included in most interiors. The items included from my home therefore include the rare, the esoteric but above all the beautiful. I hope they will bring some inspiration into yours. Paul Reeves
