red stained and natural, kings and queens with leaf carved bulbous stems, the king with pierced floral gallery, bishops with pierced finials, knights as horse's heads with flaring nostrals and reins, rooks crenellated and radiating guns, the remaining pieces with slender bulbous and balconied stems (two replacement pawns), probably Berhampur, 19th century -- king 4 5/8in.
