Album of 62 ornament engravings (without text) mostly by Pierre-Philippe Choffard (1730-1809) including floral arrangements. A French draughtsman and engraver, showed great aptitude at a young age for drawing flowers and ornaments, so he was placed with the map engraver Guillaume Dheulland. He later received lessons from Pierre-Edme Babel, an engraver of ornaments. After his map cartouches drew attention between 1753 and 1756, he was commissioned to execute the tail-pieces for the celebrated 1762 edition of La Fontaine's Contes, published by the Fermiers-Généraux (see lot 575).
