Etched additional title with pictorial border comprising 14 illustrations showing mining and smelting techniques, large woodcut coat-of-arms of Ranuccio Farnese, Duke of Parma, on title, 28 mostly full-page etchings in text by Lorenzo Tinti. Contemporary Italian flexible vellum gilt (minor wear to edges). Provenance: acquired from Emil Offenbacher, 1980.

FIRST EDITION of this rare book on minining illustrated with plates "of very unusual quality" (Duveen) and showing mining, tools and smelting. "This author supported Agricola in the view that metals and ores did not spring spontaneously into being at the moment of the earth's Creation.
