STRADANUS, Joannes. Equile, In quo omnis generis generosissimorum equorum. [Antwerp]: Marcus Sadeler, ca 1600.
Oblong 4o (245 x 359 mm). Engraved title, engraved dedication and 39 (of 41?) engraved plates; with 6 engravings on 5 sheets added from a different work. (Lacking? two plates, some occasional pale spotting.) Contemporary vellum (a few losses at ends of spine). Provenance: acquired from A. Fletcher, 1963.
Later edition of the previous lot. An accurate plate count for this edition has not been established. Menessier describes 41 plates (as in the earlier edition), but every copy traced at auction in the last 100 years has had 39 or fewer. Menessier, p. 537.
