With broad double-edged blade cut with a central fuller etched with an inscription in Italian and bordered by etched flowering foliage and a differing portrait bust on each face, the forte covered by a dark leather collar, possibly original, characteristic iron basket-guard of flattened bars with short horizontally recurved rear-quillon, inner thumb-ring, original ribbed leather-covered wooden grip, and elaborate cast and chased brass shield-shaped 'cat's head' pommel involving a large rosette on each face
