LATE 17TH EARLY 18TH CENTURY
With broad double-edged blade cut with a central fuller on each side at the forte and struck with a star on each face, characteristic iron basket-guard of flattened bars, one struck with a mark, inner thumb-ring, short horizontally recurved rear-quillon, ridged leather-covered grip, possibly original, and pierced shield-shaped pommel with central boss on each side and linked to the top of the guard by a wire loop
