IN GERMAN 16TH CENTURY STYLE
With tapering double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section with the faint inscription 'IN TOLETO' on one face and a small spray of etched foliage on each face, the forte and oblong ricasso each with silver-inlaid masks, foliage and monster-heads, iron hilt comprising guard of flattened bars with upper and lower side-rings each with central roundel, arms, shaped quillon-block, and knuckle-guard and horizontally recurved quillons each with disc-shaped finial matching the roundels cut into the side-rings, inner-guard of slender rounded bars, spirally fluted wire-bound grip with Turk's heads, and flattened barrel-shaped pommel with prominent tang-button, the guard and pommel decorated throughout with silver-inlaid ornament involving running foliage, portrait busts, mythical birds, and Classical figures
