EARLY 17TH CENTURY
Of one-piece and remarkable weight, the domed skull rising to a low medial ridge with light roping, a deep shot-proof mark to one face, and narrow downturned brim struck with a maker's mark, with a pair of rivets on each side at the base of the skull probably for ear-pieces, and the brim encircled with small domed lining rivets, some with remnants of brass washers
