A RARE GERMAN SMALL-SWORD WITH ENAMELLED GRIP
MID-18TH CENTURY
With blued and gilt double-edged blade of flattened hexagonal section etched on each side with named figures of six of the Twelve Apostles and with a Latin inscription at the forte, gilt-brass hilt comprising guard with side-ring, short downcurved lobed rear-quillon, knuckle-guard and flattened globular pommel cast and chased throughout with trophies of arms and rococo ornament, and swelled white enamelled grip decorated with painted maritime scenes and flowers (metal parts refinished throughout)
