A COMPOSITE VENETIAN OR DALMATIAN SCHIAVONA
LATE 17TH EARLY 18TH CENTURY
With broad double-edged blade etched on each side with sprays of scrollwork and a trophy of arms at the forte, iron basket-guard formed of flattened bars each with shallow medial ridge and linked by slender curved arms (some repairs to joins, rear quillon probably replaced), later ridged leather-covered grip, and later brass shield-shaped pommel cast in relief respectively on each side with a lion-mask and devil-mask
