A CIRCULAR STEEL TARGET WITH ETCHED AND GILT ORNAMENT
IN ITALIAN 16TH CENTURY STYLE
Of heavy one piece rising to a gilt central point with applied spike, the outer rim with bold turned roped edge, etched with radiating bands of foliage meeting an outer band of foliage all against a stippled ground with gilt border-lines, the segments formed by the radiating bands with etched and gilt symbols and script, the outer band with applied bullion thread border and etched with five roundels each containing a gilt character reminiscent of a central African throwing knife, and four bosses, the inside with embroidered velvet liner (damaged and worn) with leather straps (incomplete), four gilt bosses for the straps, and encircled by a band of brass washers embossed as rosettes, with small glued label stating '580 COLLECTION J. & R.J. CHARLES'
