A TWO-HAND PROCESSIONAL SWORD
IN GERMAN 16TH CENTURY STYLE
With broad double-edged straight blade of flattened diamond section, long ricasso incised with a border-line and with two upturned side-lugs, one with the 'maker's' mark 'OB' crowned on one side, blackened iron hilt comprising guard with slightly arched flat quillons with short scrolled arms and fleur-de-lys finials, and large symmetrical side-rings swelled at the centre, each element incised with pairs of lines forming bars and crosses, bottle-shaped leather-covered wooden grip with prominent central moulding and remains of red tassels at each end (leather worn and incomplete), and fig-shaped pommel, possibly associated, incised with lines
