AN ITALIAN HUNTING KNIFE
LATE 18TH EARLY 19TH CENTURY
With tapering blade of flattened hexagonal section double-edged at the point, turned ricasso, silver collar engraved with a band of foliage, short forward quillon formed as a serpent, ivory grip carved and pierced to form two standing classical figures, one male, the other female, each holding a sword and a severed head, in original green-stained rayskin-covered sheath with silver mounts engraved en suite with the collar, the reverse of the locket with old collection inventory label marked '627 COLLECTIONS J. & R.J. CHARLES'
