the case with handle to inverted bell top surmounted by urn and spire finials, glazed sides, gilt-metal quarter frets to the front and rear doors , on brass bracket feet, the dial signed Claudius DuChesne LONDON on a silvered and border-engraved plaque beneath the silvered chapter ring and flanked by subsidiary dials days of week and month, the matted centre with subsidiary calendar and mock pendulum apertures, subsidiary dials above now for chime/silent and chime on 8 bells/chime on 4 bells, the arch with penny moonphase, the eight pillar triple chain fusee movement now with anchor escapement chiming on eight bells with hour strike on further bell, the backplate elaborately engraved with foliate scrolls, centred by an oval depicting adorsed male and female heads and flanked by figures of Diana and Chronos, the movement partially retrained -- 23¼in.(58cm.) high
