Lot Essay

The HMS Belleisle was launched in 1819; she served in the Far East in the 1830s and early 1840s and was broken up in 1872. A J.H. Cave is recorded as captain of the Paddle Sloop Styx in Caribbean waters in 1860; earlier it, too, had been in the Far East.
