Lot Essay

In 1895 Geyer settled in Florence. Soon after he executed the four metre high Bogenschutze which was included in the Grosse Berliner Kunstausstellung in 1900. In 1902 Kaiser Wilhelm II purchased the monumental work and placed it in Park Sanssouci in Potsdam. The Gladenbeck foundry acquired the rights to cast reductions in bronze.
