TWO REGENCY TOLE PEINTE TRAYS ON LATER STANDS
EARLY 19TH CENTURY, THE STANDS 20TH CENTURY
The first with sides painted with gilt foliage on a black ground, the main scene depicting Marie Antoinette being escorted from a Gothic chapel by soldiers, with weeping ladies' maids and protesting children around her; the second tray with foliate-cast pierced sides, the main scene in the manner of Salvator Rosa, depicting figures, mules and a lone rider travelling along a rocky path, with large rocks and trees in the foreground and mountains and a valley in the background, both trays with protective glass covers
Tray one inc. stand: 20½ in. (52 cm.) high; 30¼ in. (77 cm.) wide; 23½ in. (59.5 cm.) deep. Tray two inc. stand: 20 in. (51 cm.) high; 27 in. (69 cm.) wide; 21 in. (53.5 cm.) deep (2)
