Each modelled as three putti supporting an acanthus-cast vase issuing ten fruiting branches with circular drip pans and nozzles, hung with beaded swags and drops, centred by a faceted obelisk above a bowl hung with drops on a baluster stem, on a shaped base with toupie feet, stamped to the underside 'H. PICARD', and to one drip pan '3075', variously stamped 'I' and 'II'

Lot Essay

The Parisian fondeur and doreur Henri Picard was based at 6 rue Jarente in 1831, moving to 10 rue de la Perle in 1839 where he remained until 1864. His firm worked on the petits appartements of Emperor Napolon III at the Louvre, and was known for its fine quality production of pièces de table and garnitures de cheminée.
