The eared serpentine brèche d'Alep marble top with moulded edge, above a frieze drawer with floral sprays, the cupboard door depicting Athena with putti and enclosing a single shelf, above an apron with a foliate cartouche, the sides decorated with parquetry panels, the angles with rocaille clasps, on short cabriole legs with acanthus sabots, stamped to the reverse 'V^R RAULIN'

Lot Essay

In 1878, Victor Raulin succeeded to his father's business, specialising in marquetry and lacquer furniture in the 18th century taste. He exhibited at the Paris 1878 and 1889 Expositions Universelles and was awarded medals for his entries. The firm was established at rue de Turenne and later moved to the Boulevard Saint-Germain in 1882 where it remained until 1925.
