A FRENCH 'JAPONISME' GILT AND SILVERED BRONZE AND ENAMELLED CERAMIC THREE-PIECE CLOCK GARNITURE
THIRD QUARTER 19TH CENTURY
Comprising a mantle clock and a pair of twin-light candelabra CASE: modelled as a gong, supported by foo-dog-headed handles, on a rectangular plinth centered with an enamel landscape scene DIAL: the circular dial decorated with a floral rosette within Arabic numerals MOVEMENT: single train timepiece movement with chaff cutter platform escapement; the candelabra en suite, each with central rectangular plaque depicting a putto to the front and stylised foliage to the reverse, flanked to each side with a scrolled branch with shaped drip pan and circular nozzle, on a rectangular base with scrolled feet
The clock:13 in. (33 cm.) high; 12¼ in. (31 cm.) wide; 6½ in. (16.5 cm.) deep;
The candelabra: 11 in. (28 cm.) high (3)
