A LACQUERED WOOD MURAL BOOKCASE, COMPRISING NINE PANELING ELEMENTS, BY JEAN DUNAND, CIRCA 1928-1929

This bookcase was designed by Jean Dunand for a Parisian collector residing in the 17th arrondissement. The design of the panels was inspired by a large decorative screen the commissioner and his family came to admire upon a visit in Dunand's workshop. The panelling took one year to complete, from 1928 to 1929.

Jean Dunand conçoit cette bibliothèque pour l'appartement d'un collectionneur parisien domicilié dans le 17ème arrondissement. Son programme décoratif est inspiré d'un grand paravent admiré par le commanditaire et sa famille lors d'une visite rendue dans l'atelier de l'artiste. La commande ordonnée en août 1928, sera achevée un an plus tard, en novembre 1929.
