Although unstamped, this piece was undoubtedly made by Gillows. The exact model, with matching dimensions and materials, is shown in a sketch by the firm dated February 9, 1849 (Estimate Sketch Books, no. 5588). The form was first developed by Gillows in 1821, with multiple minor variations produced until the 1850s.
