A SET OF SIX LATE VICTORIAN MAHOGANY DINING CHAIRS
In the Chippendale manner, each with a pierced rocaille-carved undulating top-rail and interlaced ribbon bow splat, with a padded seat and seat rail centred by a cabochon, on cabriole legs headed with an acanthus spray and terminating in scroll feet
The design for these chairs was first printed in the First Edition of 1754 of The Gentleman and Cabinet Makers Director, by Thomas Chippendale and subsequently re printed in the Third Edition of 1762 (6)
