The arched hood surmounted by a figure of Chronos with his scythe, the waisted case with glass aperture to trunk door and mounted with foliage and espagnolette masks to front, on shaped foot, later ebonised over marquetry, the gilt-brass dial profusely chased with portrait bust to centre and set with enamel Roman hour plaques and Arabic five-minute plaques, blued steel hands, the weight-driven two-train movement with recoil anchor escapement and rack striking to bell, the back plate signed Dutton, London and numbered 343
