拍品專文

The inspiration for these models by Johann Joachim Kändler came from the the celebrated marble sculptures of the Chevaux de Marly by the French sculptor Guillame Coustou the Elder. These were installed at the Abreuvoir at Marly in 1745, following a commission from Louis XV. Replicas stand at the entrance to the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
