Lot Essay

In 1937, Richardson was commissioned to design a new church, Holy Cross, Greenford. The initial design was revised and simplified and was built between 1939 and 42. The design was based on a timber truss structure comprising of interlocking straight members, which created a low-eaved profile. The dramatic timber interior was highly acclaimed.

We are grateful to John Harris and Charles Hind for their assistance with cataloguing the group of architectural drawings.
