Lot Essay

The bronze reduction of the Fontana del Tritone depicts one of Gianlorenzo Bernini's most famous fountains, executed in travertine marble at the instigation of Pope Urban VIII between 1642 and 1644 and still in situ in the Piazza Barberini.
