A Blue and White Porcelain Ewer
Joseon dynasty (19th century)
Of compressed ovoid form with bulging shoulders and upright neck ending in an everted rim, painted in underglaze blue on opposite sides of the body with two foliate-shaped reserves of landscapes separated by a large flower spray, triple lines painted just above the foot and double lines around the neck and a collar of fretwork around the base of the neck, the flat surface of the u-shaped handle painted with short vertical lines ending in tassels, the flat circular cover painted in underglaze blue with three leaf sprays within a single blue ring, the ewer also applied with a blue-tinged clear glaze on the interior and exterior save the rim of the inward-slanted foot
