A Mother-of-Pearl-Inlaid Lacquered Wood Box
Joseon dynasty (19th century)
Composed of two square boxes hinged at one side so that they form a rectangular case when closed, each fitted on the interior with two square top drawers and a lower rectangular drawer fitted with ring pulls, inlaid on the sides with felicitous imagery, on the front with a bird and plum and with a bird and bamboo, on the ends with a large longevity character, and the back plain; the surface of the wood box applied with brownish black lacquer and the side brackets, hinges and clasp brass
