Joseon dynasty (19th century)
Of rectangular shape, with a large lower drawer, slightly smaller middle drawer and two small top drawers, each fitted with metal pulls and lined on the interiors with paper, densely inlaid in mother-of-pearl with different panels, the large drawer with a scholar and attendant on a veranda below a willow tree, the middle drawer with a pair of mandarin ducks in a stream, a symbol of marital bliss, and the top drawers with a sun and scalloped clouds, the two sides and top each inlaid with three large florets and the surface applied with brownish black lacquer
