In the Louis XV style, each upholstered in mid-18th century tapestry covers depicting La Fontaine's fable of the fox and the crow, painted museum accession number 550.79 and 80 (2)

The Widener Collection.
Purchased for the Detroit Institute by the Founders Society with funds from Mr. and Mrs. Edgar B. Whitcomb from Arnold Seligmann, Rey, and Co., Inc., 1950.
