Lot Essay

These vases appear to be a variant form of the 'Vase Parseval', named after the shareholder Philibert Parseval, and designed to display fresh or crystalized fruit on the dessert table. Two designs are still conserved in the archives, of the 2nd and 3rd sizes, while another polychrome example of the smaller size was sold in the Valentine Collection; Christie's, New York, 21 October 2005, lot 1.
