Among the earliest biscuit figure models manufactured at Sèvres, the group of putti modeled as the four seasons date from circa 1746 or 1750. Cf. E. Bourgeois, Le Biscuit de Sèvres, Paris, 1913, pl. 2, no. 282 and 340. A set of all four seasons was sold in The Elizabeth Parke Firestone Collection, Christie's, New York, 21 March 1991, lot 151.
