These iconic works show rebels cutting down security police as they poured out of a Communist headquarters in Hungary. Published in Life Magazine in 1956, they received the Robert Capa award in the same year. They are still considered today as some of the most gruelling images portraying conflict in the history of photo-journalism. Recalling the atrocity, Sadovy said 'There was nothing to compare with the horror of this. The tears kept running down my face and I had to keep wiping them away.'
