A RARE JUNYAO CIRCULAR BOX AND COVER
SONG/JIN DYNASTY, 12TH-13TH CENTURY
Both the box and the slightly domed cover are applied on one side with a small boss for alignment purposes, and are covered on the exterior and interior with a glaze of milky blue color. The rims are unglazed. Together with a small Junyao cup on an integral stand covered with a lavender blue glaze thinning to mushroom on the edges; and a green Junyao rounded conical bowl covered inside and out with a glaze of olive-green tone that ends in an irregular line above the unglazed foot.
Box 4 1/8 (10.5 cm.) diam.; cup 1 7/8 in. (4.8 cm.) high; bowl 7 in. (17.8 cm.) diam. (3)
