KANGXI SIX-CHARACTER MARKS IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE WITHIN DOUBLE CIRCLES AND OF THE PERIOD (1662-1722)
Each has deep, rounded sides that rise to a slightly everted rim, and is painted on the exterior with a frieze of leafy meander bearing six blossoms above a petal-lappet band, and on the interior with a single flower spray within a central roundel.

Lot Essay

A pair of similar Kangxi-marked bowls was sold at Christie's New York, 18 September 2003, lot 318, and an almost identical bowl, in the National Palace Museum, is illustrated in Blue and White Ware of the Ch'ing Dynasty, Book 1, Hong Kong, 1968, pp.56-7, col. pls. 12, 12a, and 12b.
