A RARE FAMILLE ROSE WALL PLAQUE
THE PLAQUE QIANLONG PERIOD (1736-1795)
The plaque is molded as a flattened double gourd-form vase supported on a simulated wood stand and tied at the narrow waist with a turquoise-enameled ribbon separating the characters da ji painted in gilding and framed by five bats (wufu) in blue enamel reserved on the gilt and coral-red diaper ground. The mouth rim is decorated with a large gilded bat, and the softwood frame is painted in green, red and gold on the front with further gourds and floral scroll, and on the reverse with a mountainous riverscape.
