A SMALL GILT-BRONZE FIGURE OF AVALOKITESVARA
TANG DYNASTY (AD 618-907)
The slender, graceful figure stands in a tribhanga pose, with a flask held in the pendant right hand and a willow branch held in the left at the shoulder. The figure wears long beaded chains, a scarf draped around the torso, a dhoti folded over below the waist, and a tripartite crown hung with ribbons. A pierced tenon for attachment of a mandorla protrudes from the back of the neck.
