A GILT DRY-LACQUER FIGURE OF BUDDHA
18TH CENTURY
The Buddha is seated in dhyanasana with hands in dhyana mudra, and wears a robe falling in naturalistic folds around the arms and legs and open at the chest. The face has a serene expression with eyes downcast, and the hair is dressed in curls surrounding the usnisa.
25 in. (63.5 cm.) high.
