AN UNUSUAL GOLD-SPLASHED BRONZE BOTTLE VASE
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The compressed globular body is finely cast with a band of cicada lappets on the lower body, and a broad scrolling band formed by five pairs of addorsed archaistic birds with conjoined tails on the upper body below five bats (wufu) with spread wings on the shoulder, and a band of key fret at the base of the slender neck which is repeated on the mouth rim above the two bow string bands that encircle the slender neck. The body and neck are irregularly splashed in gold.
