A HUALI SIX-POSTER CANOPY BED, JIAZICHUANG
18TH CENTURY
The framed soft-cane top is set into the platform above a narrow waist and rounded plain apron continuing to the square legs with incurving hoof feet. The four corner posts and two front posts are joined on the three sides and part of the front with a lattice-work railing composed of two rows of interlocked, stylized scroll below a band of struts carved as baskets, filled with finger citrons. The posts are joined at the top by a wide lattice canopy above a frieze of rectangular lattice-work panels with chilong scroll at the corners.
