A PAIR OF ZITAN BAMBOO-FORM ARMCHAIRS, MEIGUIYI

The elaborate backsplat is carved in openwork with a mask-form handle suspending a chime above pairs of bats, peaches, and butterflies and flanked by archaistic scroll-form back and side rails. The rectangular seat is set above a narrow waist above the shaped apron carved with ruyi-head scrolls. All supported on legs of rectangular section terminating in hoof feet, and carved with beaded scrolled edges.
