AN UNUSUAL CHENXIANGMU BRUSH AND CAP
17TH/18TH CENTURY
The slender, cylindrical brush is carved with Kuixing, the demon-like god of Literature, reaching for a square cup borne on vapor while standing on one foot atop the horned head of a dragon-carp spewing water from its mouth to form the waves below. The cylindrical cap is carved with the wufu in flight amidst vaporous clouds.
