A CLOISONNE AND GILT-METAL LANTERN

The base is decorated in cloisonné enamel as a wind-tossed sea swirling around four shells that project from the corners within an octagonal balustrade, repeated on top of a cloisonné enamel apron on which rests the center section which is in the shape of two conjoined lozenges inset with inside-painted glass panels on two sides and openwork gilt-metal panels on the narrow sides, all set between bats amidst clouds above and below. The openwork superstructure is also decorated in cloisonné enamel.
