AN UNUSUAL YELLOW AND BUFF JADE ARCHAISTIC BIRD-FORM PENDANT
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The pendant is well carved in the round as a bird with small pierced beak, legs tucked under the body, and wings with tips that curl onto the tail feathers, which are carved at the tips with angular scrolls. Further archaistic designs are carved on the head, back and underside. The greenish-yellow stone has opaque areas of buff and pale brown color on the wings and tail.
