TWO SMALL JADE ARCHAISTIC AXE-FORM PENDANTS
18TH/19TH CENTURY
One, of pale greenish-white color, is carved on each side with a taotie mask above the curved blade that tapers to the 'cutting edge' and is carved on each side with a row of dots. The suspension loop is in the shape of a recumbent feline. The other white pendant with up-curved tips at the lower edge is carved as a highly stylized dragon, its backward-turned head facing its claws and the tail of an openwork dragon carved along one side edge. The reverse is incised with scrolls and has some russet areas.
