A WHITE JADE RECTANGULAR PENDANT PLAQUE
18TH/19TH CENTURY
The plaque is carved in relief on one side with a scholar and an attendant steering a log boat through wind-tossed waves, with a pine tree to one side and a pavilion amidst vapor above. The reverse is carved with an inscription, wangmu xi chi teng cui jia/magu dong hai jiang yun cha (Wangmu [the Queen Mother of the West] rises above the Jasper Lake in a large chariot; Magu descends to the Eastern Sea in a raft amidst clouds), followed by a seal, wen wan (play thing), within an archaistic dragon border.
