A WHITE JADE RECTANGULAR PLAQUE
19TH CENTURY
The plaque, with rounded corners, is carved on one side with a woman holding a young boy as she watches two boys lighting fire crackers, and on the reverse with a lengthy inscription, bao zhu ping wen feng li xin/hua xuan cu yong lan ru yin/zhu er tou jiao zheng rong shen (The sound of fire crackers brings forth a new year; the sparks glistening like silver. Children compete against one another, to be the first to welcome the arrival of Spring), followed by two seals, all below confronted dragon scroll.
